Objective

To create a fully illustrated visual identity and game experience for Beers of Ballard, a locally produced board game inspired by Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood and brewery culture. The goal was to develop artwork and graphics that felt playful, recognizable, and deeply connected to the local community.

What I've done

  • Visual identity development
  • Board game illustration
  • Packaging design
  • Typography & layout design
  • Card and game asset creation
  • Production-ready artwork preparation
  • Creative Process

  • Research: Explored the culture, breweries, landmarks, and personality of the Ballard neighborhood to help shape the visual direction of the game.
  • Collaboration: Worked closely with the game designer throughout the development process to align gameplay, storytelling, and visual design.
  • Illustration: Created custom illustrations and graphic elements used throughout the game, including packaging, cards, and supporting assets.
  • Design System: Developed a cohesive visual language that carried consistently across every part of the game experience.
  • Finalization: Prepared final production-ready artwork for manufacturing, packaging, and retail distribution.
  • Results

The final game successfully translated the personality of Ballard into an engaging visual experience and was produced and sold locally within the Seattle community.

    Conclusion

Through illustration, branding, and collaborative design, I helped create a distinctive board game experience that celebrated Ballard’s local culture while bringing personality and consistency to every aspect of the game.
